These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the ChargeShield mobile application and website at chargeshield.co.uk ("the Service"), operated by ChargeShield ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading, installing or using ChargeShield, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
ChargeShield is an informational mobile application that uses GPS technology to detect when a user's device enters the approximate area of known UK road charging zones (including but not limited to the London Congestion Charge Zone, Ultra Low Emission Zone, Low Emission Zone, Dartford Crossing, Silvertown Tunnel and Blackwall Tunnel). The app sends push notifications to alert users of potential charging zone entries.
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER — Please read carefully: ChargeShield is an informational and notification tool only. We are NOT a payment service, NOT a government-authorised system, and NOT affiliated with Transport for London (TfL), National Highways, or any other charging authority. ChargeShield does NOT pay charges on your behalf and does NOT guarantee that you will receive a notification for every zone entry.

It is YOUR sole responsibility to ensure you pay any applicable road charges directly to the relevant authority (TfL, National Highways, etc.) by the required deadline. ChargeShield is a supplementary reminder tool only and must not be relied upon as your sole means of managing road charge payments.
Under no circumstances shall ChargeShield's total liability to you exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

By using the beta version, you accept these limitations. We strongly recommend you do not rely solely on ChargeShield to manage your road charge payments.
ChargeShield is available as a free tier and a paid Pro subscription. All prices are in Pounds Sterling (£).
Free tier: Available at no cost with limited functionality (up to 15 zone entry alerts per month, London zones only, 1 vehicle).
Pro subscription:
Pro subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. You will be notified of upcoming renewals. Prices are displayed inclusive of any applicable taxes.
We reserve the right to change pricing. Any price changes will be communicated at least 30 days in advance and will not affect your current billing period.
You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time by contacting us at support@chargeshield.co.uk. Upon cancellation, your Pro access will continue until the end of your current paid billing period, after which your account will revert to the free tier.
To cancel, simply email us at support@chargeshield.co.uk stating you wish to cancel. We will confirm your cancellation within 2 working days.
14-Day Cooling-Off Period: In accordance with the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you have a statutory right to cancel your subscription within 14 days of purchase for a full refund, provided you have not activated your licence key or used the Pro features. To exercise this right, contact us at support@chargeshield.co.uk within 14 days of purchase.
Outside of the statutory 14-day cooling-off period, we do not offer refunds for subscription payments. This is because:

ChargeShield does not offer a free trial of the Pro subscription. A free tier is available with limited functionality. The Pro subscription is a paid service from the point of purchase.
Upon purchasing a Pro subscription, you will receive a unique licence key via email. This key:
We reserve the right to deactivate licence keys that we reasonably believe have been shared or used fraudulently.
ChargeShield uses GPS geofencing to approximate zone boundaries. Zone boundary data is sourced from publicly available information and is updated periodically. However:
Always verify current zone boundaries and charges directly with the relevant authority (TfL at tfl.gov.uk, National Highways at nationalhighways.co.uk).
ChargeShield requires access to your device's location (including background location) to function. Location data is processed locally on your device to detect zone entries. We do not store, sell or share your location history with third parties. Please see our Privacy Policy for full details.

We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee 100% uptime. The service may be interrupted for maintenance, updates or circumstances beyond our control. We are not liable for any loss arising from service unavailability.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
